Particle production in high energy collisions

A short historical review is made of charged particle production at high energy proton synchrotrons and at pp and pp colliders. The review concerns mainly low pt processes, including diffraction processes, and fragmentation of nuclei in nucleus-nucleus collisions. A short recollection is made of the first studies of high pt processes. Conclusions and perspectives follow.

Particle Production in High-energy Heavy-ion Collisions

Particle production mechanisms in high-energy heavy-ion collisions are reviewed in connection with recent experimental data from RHIC. Implications on mini-jet production, parton saturation and jet quenching are discussed.

Squeezed States and Particle Production in High Energy Collisions

Using the ‘quantum optical approach’ we propose a model of multiplicity distributions in high energy collisions based on squeezed coherent states. We show that the k-mode squeezed coherent state is the most general one in describing hadronic mulitiplicity distributions in particle collision processes, describing not only pp collisions but e+e−, νp and diffractive collisions as well. The reason ...

Non-Parametric Energy Use Efficiency, Energy Ratio and Specific Energy for Irrigated Wheat Crop Production

In this paper, non parametric Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) was subjected to the energy data of wheat producers in Punjab state, India, and technical, pure technical and scale efficiencies were calculated for farms both category wise and zone wise. The main objective was to determine the strength of the correlation between non-parametric efficiencies and indices such as energy ratio and speci...

Number fluctuations and energy dissipation in sodium spinor condensates.

We characterize fluctuations in atom number and spin populations in F=1 sodium spinor condensates. We find that the fluctuations enable a quantitative measure of energy dissipation in the condensate. The time evolution of the population fluctuations shows a maximum. We interpret this as evidence of a dissipation-driven separatrix crossing in phase space. For a given initial state, the critical ...
